Press Agencies Services Retrieval and Archiving

The entire system is designed around intranet technology. Therefore, the actual applications and data are stored on the server or a group of servers and accessed online using a standard web browser. 

Text data from all applications are stored in an SQL database and indexed for fulltext searching. Images (thumbnails, bitmaps, vector files etc.) are saved in directories on the server and their relative paths stored in the database.

Dynamic web page creation is done on the server side using the Active Server Pages environment. On the client side, Dynamic HTML scripting technology is used, opening the door to more advanced interfaces than standard HTML can allow.

• Importing syndicated news from one or more news agencies into the application database

• Marking selected images as used

Archive

Functionality Specification

• Entering and description of the original file by the archive manager
• Creating thumbnails from JPEG, TIFF, PSD, EPS, AI and other supported formats
• Creating image captions
• Browsing the archive using fulltext search or category tree
• Downloading the original file
• Defining and using views (saved fulltext queries)
• Saving and using selections (preselected sets of files from the archive)
